Bethany Linville completed her B.A. in Spanish and International Studies at Valdosta State University in Georgia and received her M.A. in Latin American Studies from Tulane University in New Orleans. She has spent time studying in Argentina and Brazil, and has lived in and traveled throughout various Latin American and European countries. Bethany has studied Spanish, Portuguese, German, and is now interested in learning French. In addition to languages and linguistics, she also enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

Jamie Larson received her B.A. in Sociology from Southern Illinois University and her M.F.A. in Communications from the University of New Orleans with a concentration in fiction writing.  She has worked as the Associate Editor and Nonfiction Associate Editor for Bayou Magazine, UNO's international literary journal.  She has also taught freshman composition at SIU and UNO, lead numerous community creative writing workshops, and tutored graduate and undergraduate writing center students.  She enjoys reading, writing, teaching, and learning from her students.

LaTesha Charbonnet earned her B.A. in Spanish from Southeastern Louisiana University, and M.A. in TESOL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA in 2008. LaTesha loves to learn new languages. She speaks Spanish, Italian and a little French and hopes to add Portuguese and Catalan to her language repertoire in the future. Additionally, LaTesha is a classically trained ballerina and enjoys learning about other cultures and their ways of life. LaTesha looks forward to teaching her students English and also learning about their culture and lives.

Laurie Nelson was raised in the "Peach State" of Georgia where she received a B.A. in Spanish from Valdosta State University and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Kennesaw State University.  While in college, she participated in a year-long study abroad program at La Universidade de Vigo, Spain.  She's traveled throughout Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua on various occasions and always loves to learn about different cultures and languages.  She moved to New Orleans in 2010 to study for her second masters degree.  When she's not studying or teaching, she enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and ice skating.

  Mark Petersen empeters@uno.edu
   

Mark Petersen began his English-teaching career in 1989 at Southern Illinois University. Through an exchange program of the university he moved to Mainz, Germany and began a period of teaching and study that continued through the 90s. From 1993 until 1995 Mark lived in the Czech Republic, teaching English and pursuing his studies of German and Czech. In 1996, Mark got the opportunity to teach English in Aix-en-Provence, France. It was great for him to revive his high school French. Back in New Orleans, Mark taught on the staff of Tulane University's English As A Second Language Institute for seven years. Post-Katrina, Mark is happy to be at his old "Alma Mater", UNO.

Phoebe Winkler earned her B.A. in Communications from Loyola University, and M.Ed. and TESOL certification from Seattle University in 2003. She has had the pleasure of working with adult students from various countries in Seattle, university students in Slovakia, children and adults in Spain, and now the international student population here in New Orleans, her home city. Phoebe looks forward to experiencing new cultures and hopes to eventually "travel the world." She is particularly fond of teaching writing, and enjoys being a student herself.
